How to play Nonogram
Fill the grid using number clues to reveal hidden pixel art.
Goal
Nonogram (Picross) is a classic logic picture puzzle. Use number clues along the top and left edges to determine which cells to fill and which to mark with an X.
Each number represents a run of consecutive filled squares. For example, 3 means a group of 3 filled cells. 1 2 means 1 filled cell, at least one blank space, then 2 filled cells.
Controls
- Mouse: Left click to fill, Right click to mark X. Drag across multiple cells to fill or cross in a row.
- Touch: Tap the tool toggle button to switch between Fill ⬛ and Mark ❌, then tap or drag over the grid.
- Hotkeys: Z or U to Undo, H for a helpful hint.
Tips
- Start with the largest numbers: a
5in a 5×5 grid fills the whole row immediately! - Look for overlaps: when a clue is larger than half the grid size, the center squares are guaranteed to be filled.
- Mark finished areas with an X to keep your deductions clean and simple.
