How to play Minesweeper
Clear safe cells, flag the mines.
Goal
Open every cell that does not contain a mine. Each opened cell shows a number telling you how many mines are hidden in the 8 cells around it. Use those numbers to work out which cells are safe and which ones hide a mine. Opening a mine ends the game.
Your first click is always safe. There are three levels: Easy (9×9, 10 mines), Medium (16×16, 40 mines) and Hard (99 mines). Your record is the fastest winning time for each level.
Controls
- Computer: left-click to open a cell, right-click to place or remove a flag. Click a number that already has enough flags around it to open the remaining neighbours at once.
- Phone: tap to open, long-press to flag. Or switch to Flag mode with the button so every tap places a flag.
Tips
- A 1 with only one unopened neighbour means that neighbour is definitely a mine.
- Learn the 1-2-1 and 1-2-2-1 patterns along edges — they reveal mine positions exactly.
- When logic runs out, open a cell far away from high numbers.
