Jewel Match

How to play Jewel Match

Swap jewels to line up 3 of a colour and score in 2 minutes.

Goal

The 8×8 board is full of six kinds of jewels, and each kind has its own colour and its own shape: red hexagon, blue diamond, green square, yellow star, purple triangle and round white pearl — so even if some colours look alike to you, you can still tell them apart. Swap two neighbouring jewels to make a row or column of 3 or more of the same kind. That line shatters, the jewels above fall down to fill the gap and new ones drop in from the top. You have 2 minutes to score as much as you can; your best score is saved on this device.

The clock only starts after your first move, so take your time to look at the board first. When you start, a little hand shows you one valid move; it disappears once you have made your first move. If you stay idle for about 5 seconds, two jewels that can be swapped gently blink as a hint.

Special jewels

  • Line up 4 → you get a striped jewel (with a white arrow). When it breaks it clears its whole row (horizontal arrow) or its whole column (vertical arrow).
  • Make an L or T shape (a row of 3 and a column of 3 sharing one jewel) → you get a bomb jewel with a glowing ring. When it breaks it blows up the 3×3 area around it.
  • Line up 5 → you get a multicoloured rainbow jewel. Swap it with any neighbour to clear every jewel of that kind on the board. Swap two rainbow jewels together to clear the whole board!

A special jewel caught in another explosion goes off too, so chain reactions can get big.

Score and chains

Every jewel broken is worth 10 points. When falling jewels form new lines on their own, that’s a chain: the second blast scores double, the third triple, and so on. Special jewels give bonus points when they go off. From a x3 chain upwards, each blast also adds 1 second to the clock. In the last 10 seconds the time bar turns red and starts ticking.

Controls

  • Mouse / touch: press on a jewel and drag (swipe) it towards the neighbour you want to swap with. Or tap a jewel to select it (it lights up), then tap a neighbour. Tap the selected jewel again to deselect it.
  • Keyboard: arrow keys move the frame; Space or Enter selects the jewel, then press an arrow in the direction you want to swap. Press Space again to deselect. P or Esc pauses.
  • The ⏸ button pauses (the clock stops), the 🔊 button toggles the sound. Switching to another tab pauses the game automatically.

If a swap doesn’t make a line, the jewels slide back with a little shake — nothing is lost. If there are no moves left on the board, the game shuffles the board for you and tells you so. When time runs out, the results show your score, your best and a Play again button.

Tips

  • Play near the bottom of the board: more jewels fall afterwards, so chains happen more often — bigger scores and extra seconds.
  • When you see 4 of a kind close together, take a moment to line up 4 or 5 for a special jewel instead of grabbing 3 straight away.
  • Bring special jewels next to each other and set them off together: a striped jewel hitting a bomb starts a huge chain reaction.
  • Don’t think too long — 2 minutes go by fast; play the sure moves quickly and look for big ones in between.

About Jewel Match

Jewel Match is an addictive 2-minute match-3 puzzle game designed for quick, satisfying breaks. On an 8×8 board filled with six distinctly shaped and colourful gems — red hexagons, blue diamonds, green squares, yellow stars, purple triangles, and white pearls — swap any two adjacent gems to form rows or columns of three or more matching jewels.

Every game is a rapid 2-minute sprint where cascading combos multiply your score. Match four or five jewels in special patterns to create explosive power gems: Flame gems that burst in a 3×3 blast, Lightning gems that zap entire rows and columns, and Rainbow gems that clear every gem of a chosen colour from the board.

FAQ

How do I create special power gems?

Match 4 in a line for a Flame Gem (explodes 3×3). Match 5 in an L or T shape for a Lightning Gem (clears both row and column). Match 5 in a row for a Rainbow Gem (clears all gems of the swapped colour).

How long is each game round?

Each round lasts exactly 2 minutes. Focus on quick matches and chained cascades to boost your combo multiplier and set new high scores.

What happens if no moves are left?

If there are truly no possible moves left on the grid, the board automatically reshuffles. If you are idle for a few seconds, a gentle visual hint will highlight an available move.

Is the game accessible for colour-blind players?

Yes, each gem features a unique geometric shape alongside its colour (star, triangle, square, diamond, hexagon, pearl), making every piece instantly recognisable.
