Color Water Sort

How to play Color Water Sort

Pour water between tubes until each holds one colour.

Goal

In front of you is a row of test tubes, each holding up to 4 layers of water in mixed-up colours. Pour water back and forth until every tube holds just one colour (4 layers of the same colour) or is empty. Finished tubes get a cork and a little sparkle. When every tube is done you clear the level and move on to a slightly harder one: the first level has only 2 colours, later levels add more, up to 12. Every level is checked in advance to be solvable, so don’t give up!

How pouring works

You can only pour into a tube that is empty, or whose top layer is the same colour as the top layer you are pouring and still has room. A pour moves all the matching layers stacked on top, as many as the other tube can hold. An illegal pour just makes the tube wobble and nothing changes.

Controls

  • Mouse / touch: click or tap a tube to lift it, then click another tube to pour. Click the lifted tube again (or an empty spot) to put it down.
  • Keyboard: number keys 1–9, 0 pick a tube directly; ← → move the selection frame and Enter or Space lifts/pours; Z or Backspace undoes, T adds an empty tube, R replays the level.
  • Buttons below: Undo (3 per level), Add tube (one empty tube per level), Replay the level from the start, sound on/off and colour symbols (every colour gets its own little shape, handy if some colours look alike to you).

You can’t lose: if you get stuck, the game says “No moves left” and suggests undoing, adding a tube or replaying. Progress is saved automatically — close the page, come back later and you continue on the same level. Your best score is the number of levels cleared.

Tips

  • Empty tubes are precious: don’t fill one with a stray colour, use it to collect a colour that is nearly finished.
  • Before pouring, check which tubes that colour is sitting on top of; pour onto a matching colour rather than into an empty tube.
  • Untangle tubes with many different layers first, as they tend to block the other colours.
  • Made a slip? Undo right away. Really stuck? An extra empty tube is usually enough to break the deadlock.

FAQ

How does pouring work?

You can only pour into an empty tube, or one whose top layer matches the colour you are pouring and still has room. A pour moves all the matching layers stacked on top, as many as the other tube can hold.

What if I get stuck?

You can’t lose: when no moves are left, use Undo (3 per level), Add an empty tube (once per level) or Replay the level. Every level has been checked to be solvable.

Can I play with the keyboard?

Yes. Number keys 1–9, 0 pick a tube directly; ← → move the selection and Enter or Space lifts/pours; Z or Backspace undoes, T adds an empty tube and R replays the level.

Is it colour-blind friendly?

Yes. Turn on colour symbols (the ◐ button) and every colour gets its own little shape, so you can match layers by shape.
