2048

Goal

The board has 16 cells. Each turn you slide every tile in one direction. When two tiles with the same number touch, they merge into one tile worth double: 2 + 2 = 4, 4 + 4 = 8 and so on. Build the 2048 tile — and then keep going to push your high score even further.

After every move a new 2 or 4 appears in an empty cell. The game ends when the board is full and no neighbouring tiles can merge.

Controls

• Computer: arrow keys or W, A, S, D.
• Phone: swipe up, down, left or right on the board.

Your current game is saved automatically, so you can close the page and continue later.

Tips

• Keep your biggest tile in a corner and avoid moves that pull it out.
• Line tiles up in descending order along one edge to chain merges.
• Don’t rush small merges in the middle — empty space is what keeps you alive.
